Four Ways to Manage Anxiety

You are not.png

We are all suffering from it, but here are a few things I want you to remember:

You just have habit of being anxious - it’s not who you are and doesn’t define you.

I completely agree with the adage that being anxious is like believing your own conspiracy theories.

Here’s how to stop:

1️⃣ MOVE - literally get up and start moving around. Walk, do jumping jacks, hit the gym. You need to get back into your body and out of your head.

2️⃣ IS IT REALLY TRUE? - ask yourself, “Are the scenarios I’m imagining in my head actual KNOWN TRUTHS or are these thoughts my guesses at proposed outcomes?” Guess what - educated guesses aren’t reality. Stick to the facts. Write them down and look at them to remind yourself when you start spinning out.

3️⃣ GRATITUDE JOURNAL - when you’re so focused on the negative, you can’t even see the great things happening in your life. Write down each night at least one great thing that happened during the day.

4️⃣ MEDITATE - starting a meditation practice is a great way to bring you back into the present. You don’t need to hold onto your ideas, worries or feelings. Meditation will teach you how to let it go.

We learn habits (good and bad). You didn’t get yourself into an anxious way of thinking in a day, and you won’t get yourself out of it in a day. Daily, consistent action is key to breaking anxiety. I believe in you ❤️
